Big changes are coming to Dungeons & Dragons in 2025. The game synonymous with role playing games turned 50 last year, and Hasbro is invigorating as it heads into its next 50 years. First off is the Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set, which is seeing a major overhaul, possibly the biggest overhaul in the set’s existence. The D&D Starter Set has long been Hasbro’s way of trying to hook new players who may not frequent game stores.

Bandai had a huge presence at Toy Fair 2025, just like they did at the last Toy Fair in 2023. They had so much product on display, spanning many lines: Gundam, Godzilla, Jaws, Tamagotchi, Dragon Ball Z and more. The Bandai staff was kind enough to give us a private tour of the booth, showing off products coming to store shelves later this year, and some coming our way in 2026. Here are some highlights of Bandai at Toy Fair 2025.

This year’s Chinese New Year marked the year of the snake, so it seems fitting that it this year we are getting not one, but two representations of Cold Slither in action figure form! For those of you who didn’t rush home from school every weekday morning in the 80s to watch G.I. Joe, Cold Slither is hair metal band consisting of the Cobra affiliated Dreadnok mercenary group. Earlier this week, Hasbro announced a Cold Slither four pack of action figures exclusive to San Diego Comic Con.

Was there a company other than Bandai with a bigger footprint on the New York Comic Con 2024 show floor? I don’t think there was. Bandai had a massive presence at NYCC ’24, with its various subsidiaries taking over not just aisles, but blocks of the show floor. The section of the floor closest to the main entrance was basically Bandai City.

The Penguin has become a massive hit for MAX. The series follows up on Colin Farrell’s portrayal of The Penguin in Batman, and takes place after the conclusion of the film. After speaking with Cristin Milioti at NYCC, I had the chance to sit down with showrunner Lauren LeFranc about The Penguin. My first question to Lauren LeFranc was how she went about casting Cristin Milioti. She immediately praised Milioti. “I’ve been a huge fan of Cristin’s work for a long time.

Without a doubt, the part of The Penguin that has everyone who has seen the show talking, is the brilliant portrayal of Sofia Falcone by Cristin Milioti. She has been stealing the show since episode one of the MAX series. Directly following the very packed The Penguin panel at New York Comic Con 2024, I had the chance to sit down with Cristin Milioti on what makes Sofia Falcone tick.

New York Comic Con often brings an interesting mash up of creators. Think of the announcement of Stan Lee and Neal Adams teaming up with the NHL at NYCC ’11. This year has an equally interesting mashup. Film score savant Bear McCreary, singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, writers Mat Groom and Kyle Higgins and artist Ramon K. Perez, as well as other artists and musicians, collaborated on a graphic novel and concept album.
