1 Introduction In 1982, Magerl [1] first reported the use of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation (PPSF) technique in thoracolumbar spine, which had the advantages of small incision, less blood loss and minimal damage to the muscles in the lower back [2]. Since then, percutaneous pedicle screw fixation has been gradually applied in clinical practice. Foley et al.

Junko Koeda and Bin WeiWorking Paper 2024-8September 2024Full text Abstract:This study evaluates the effectiveness of Japan's unconventional monetary policies over the past quarter century within a unified term structure framework. It specifically examines the impact of the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) outcome-based forward guidance and yield curve control (YCC) and incorporates other policy types into the framework.

AbstractThermoelectrics converting heat and electricity directly attract broad attentions. To enhance the thermoelectric figure of merit, zT, one of the key points is to decouple the carrier-phonon transport. Here, we propose an entropy engineering strategy to realize the carrier-phonon decoupling in the typical SrTiO3-based perovskite thermoelectrics. By high-entropy design, the lattice thermal conductivity could be reduced nearly to the amorphous limit, 1.25 W m−1 K−1.

Full text Summary:This article analyzes the effectiveness of the Secondary Market Corporate Credit Facility (SMCCF) in stabilizing the US corporate bond market during the COVID-19 pandemic. The SMCCF announcements in March and April 2020 significantly reduced credit spreads across different bond maturities, restoring a more typical upward-sloping yield curve.

A comprehensive understanding of phonon transport is essential to develop effective solutions for heat dissipation. Gallium nitride (GaN), a representative of third-generation power semiconductors, has been extensively studied regarding its thermodynamics and lattice dynamics. However, the temperature-dependent phonon properties, especially the anharmonicity at high temperatures, are poorly understood.
