AbstractPeripheral neuropathy (PN) identified as a significant contributor to disability in Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) patients. This study seeks to assess the utility of current perception threshold (CPT) measurements in evaluating PN in individuals with SCA3 and aims to identify factors influencing CPT values in SCA3 and ascertain whether these values correlate with the severity of ataxia.

Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy type 1 (FSHD1) patients exhibit marked variability in both age at onset (AAO) and disease severity. Early onset FSHD1 patients are at an increased risk of severe weakness, and early onset has been tentatively linked to the length of D4Z4 repeat units (RUs) and methylation levels. The present study explored potential relationships among genetic characteristics, AAO and disease severity in FSHD1.

This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University and written informed consent was provided by all patients. We conducted a retrospective analysis of 356 non-metastatic PCa patients who underwent pre-operative prostate mpMRI and RP in the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University between January 2013 and August 2020.

Between January 2000 and December 2019, imaging data from 7 patients diagnosed with PHA through pathological confirmation were collected at two provincial-level tertiary hospitals (4 patients at one center and 3 patients at the other). This cohort comprised 4 males and 3 females, with a median age of 52.7 years (range 24 to 63 years).

In accordance with TCGA policy, gene expression profiles (RNA-sequencing) and clinical information for HCC and normal samples were obtained from the publicly available TCGA database (https://portal.gdc.cancer.gov/) [30]. To develop and validate a novel predictive model, we randomly allocated HCC patients from the TCGA-LIHC dataset into training and internal validation sets in a balanced 1:1 ratio.

The Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database was accessed to download the BLCA scRNA-seq dataset by using accession numbers: GSE135337 [9], including 7 tumor samples and 1 normal sample. BLCA bulk RNA-seq datasets were procured from TCGA and GEO databases with the following accession number: TCGA-BLCA, GSE13507 [10], GSE32894 [11], GSE48075 [12], and GSE48276 [13]. The TCGA-BLCA dataset had 412 tumor samples and 19 normal samples that were utilized as the training cohort.

Eighty-five patients of chronic kidney disease in the Department of Nephrology of our hospital from March 2020 to August 2021 were selected and divided into three groups according to the estimated GFR: Group A (CKD stage 1–2), Group B (CKD stage 3–4), and Group C (CKD stage 5), 40 hypertensive patients without renal insufficiency were gathered as hypertension (HT) group and 40 gender and age-matched healthy volunteers were selected as the control group.
