I. INTRODUCTION Anticipating future threats from alien species to prevent their occurrence is the most cost-effective strategy to manage biological invasions. Bioeconomic modelling has shown high returns on investment in preventative measures that reduce the probability of biological invasions by animals and plants (Keller, Lodge & Finnoff, 2007; Leung et al., 2002; Springborn, Romagosa & Keller, 2011; Epanchin-Niell, 2017).

INTRODUCTION Environmental change influences the behaviour, development and physiology of organisms (Parmesan, 2006; Walther, 2010). These changes to individuals accumulate to restructure species interactions within networks, impacting species extinction risk and ecosystem functioning (Bascompte et al., 2019; Poisot et al., 2015; Schleuning et al., 2020).
