After sequestered discussions of his employment appeared on multiple Edmond City Council agendas last fall with no action taken, Edmond City Manager Scot Rigby officially resigned from his position at Monday evening’s council meeting following another executive session. When the five councilmembers first voted to enter executive session and left the chambers, Rigby did not join them.

Norman’s three mayoral candidates have agreed to a public debate scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in the first-floor auditorium of Gaylord Hall at the University of Oklahoma. Titled Norman’s Next Step, the event is part of NonDoc’s political debate series. It is being hosted in partnership among NonDoc, News 9, The Norman Transcript, the OU Daily and the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Attendance is free and open to the public, and Gaylord Hall is located at 395 W.

After working as head of the Edmond Public Schools system since June 2021, Superintendent Angela Grunewald announced this afternoon she will retire at the end of the current school year. “Serving as your superintendent has been the highlight of my career. I continue to have so many dreams for this district to help us better serve the students,” Grunewald said in Friday’s press release.

All four candidates in the 2025 Edmond mayoral race have agreed to participate in a public debate as part of NonDoc’s political debate series. In partnership with News 9, the Edmond Mayoral Matchup — a debate featuring candidates David Hornbeek, Mark Nash, Tom Robins and Leonard Scott — is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the south lecture hall of the University of Central Oklahoma’s Liberal Arts Building. Attendance is free and open to the public.

The Tulsa Housing Authority is making progress toward finishing a multi-year backlog of legally mandated audits, but the process is expected to run well into the term of newly elected Mayor Monroe Nichols. Under state law and an attorney general opinion, the audit delays could allow city leaders to overhaul the board that governs THA, which also faces a 12,000-person waiting list of applicants seeking housing assistance.
