There were a large number of Tennessee Moon fans on hand Saturday at Fonner Park. Trainer Mark Hibdon saw that when she turned for home in the 41st running of the $25,000 Al Swihart Memorial Stakes. “She came down the stretch, I looked around and everybody was cheering her on,” Hibdon said. “She is a special horse. I don’t know what else to say about her. She’s just a special mare. I noticed everybody was rooting for her.

Tennessee Moon had more than a competitive showing just last week in the $75,000 Bosselman Pump and Pantry/Gus Fonner Stakes. Running against the boys, the 5-year-old Kentucky-bred mare finished third behind winner Komorebino Omoide and her stablemate Drivehappy. Now one week later, trainer Mark Hibdon will send her to the post Saturday in the 41st running of the Al Swihart Memorial Stakes at Fonner.

GRAND ISLAND — It’s always good to have a Plan B. Trainer Stetson Rushton and jockey Nate Haar had a Plan B for the second running of the $30,000 Elite Sprint Cup Saturday at Fonner Park. “It was kind of a Plan B from what me and Stetson had talked about,” Haar said. “The six horse (General Shipman), I thought would go with the seven (Axel Steel). It worked out for us.”It couldn’t have worked out much for Haar on Under Oath, a 6-year-old Kentucky-bred gelding.
