Harmon, Centennial Pools to open soon and Memorial weekend hours

KEARNEY — Harmon Park Swimming Pool is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 24. During Memorial Weekend and Memorial Day, Harmon Pool will be open from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.Starting Tuesday, May 27, Harmon Park Swimming Pool & Centennial Park Swimming Pool will begin regular pools hours from 1-5 p.m., and 6:30-8:30 p.m. on weekdays, and 1-8 p.m. at Harmon pool and 1-7 p.m. on weekends.
Water to return to Kearney Canal next week

KEARNEY — Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) is preparing to return water to the Kearney Canal early next week. NPPD plans to start releasing water into the canal system as early as Tuesday, May 13, and water will fill the canal over the course of several days. “The Kearney Canal is used for irrigation and feeds into the Kearney Hydro. It’s a great feature within the city and supports activities along or downstream of the canal system,” said NPPD Water Systems Maintenance Technician Mike Koubek.
Railroad crossing project on US-283 in Arapahoe

ARAPAHOE — Weather permitting, a railroad crossing project will begin Wednesday, May 28 on U.S. Highway 283 (US-283) at reference post 20+61 in Arapahoe, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. The crossing repair work is being done by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. Follow the marked detour. Work is anticipated to take two (2) days. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.

The University of Nebraska at Kearney senior was raised in a small community in Nepal, where only the wealthy had computers and internet access in their homes. According to the National Weather Service – Hastings, despite the increasingly green fuels, much of Nebraska remains well below normal on precipitation this year so far. LEXINGTON — At their May meeting, Dawson Public Power District’s board of directors reviewed the district’s bond debt. Bonds are used to finance large infrastructure projects. The current bonds were issued between 2016 and 2020 and have interest rates ranging from 0.75 to 3.5%. The district is considering a new bond for upcoming construction projects. “The district’s history of bonding shows good business practices,” said new General Manager Alyssa Clemsen Roberts.
