KEARNEY — CHI Health Good Samaritan welcomes artist Jeff Montag to its Walkway Gallery. The new exhibit features colorful paintings of subjects that Montag finds inspirational. It will be on display at the hospital through November 2025. Montag began his artistic journey as a healing outlet following a life-changing gymnastics injury. He lived in Kearney with his family for more than 30 years and worked in healthcare helping individuals re-enter the workforce after job loss.

KEARNEY — The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire during the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 17. The KVFD was dispatched to 1822 6th Ave. at 3:31 a.m. for the report of a structure fire. They would respond with 33 firefighters, two engines, one ladder apparatus and one utility vehicle. Arriving on scene, the KVFD observed a fire on the backside of the home and initiated a fire attack on the exterior of the home where the bulk of fire was located.
