While we had some filtered sunshine today, temperatures stayed well below average. After only reaching 22° on Friday, the mercury only ticked up a degree for our Saturday, reaching 23° in Madison. Unfortunately, the breezy westerly winds gusting as high as 15 mph kept wind chill values at 10° or lower throughout the day. It looks as though we're in for another cold night as well as temperatures fall toward 10° in Madison early Sunday morning with a wind chill value of -6°.

We had hardly any sunshine through the weekend. None the less temperatures managed to climb past the 40 degree mark both days, which is a bit above average. Highs will reach the 40s again tomorrow under mostly cloudy skies and with scattered rain showers in the area. After tomorrow there will be a big temperature drop through the remainder of the week. Highs will be in the 30s Wednesday and Thursday and then in the 20s for Friday and next weekend, easily the coldest air we've had so far this season.

The skies above Southern Wisconsin remained cloudy throughout the day, only allowing temperatures to reach as high as the low 40s throughout the region, which is close to average. The cloud cover will stick around overnight as temperatures gradually dwindle toward the mid 30s throughout the southern half of the state; we will wake up to a low temperature near 34° in Madison early Sunday.

By Bob Lindmeier A strong storm system will bring windy and wet weather to the region Monday and Tuesday. As the storm slowly departs and colder air sweeps in, a wintry mix will be possible Wednesday and Thursday. At this point I'm expecting little if any snow accumulation, but we'll keep an eye on it as we get closer to that time frame. We'll finish off the week with dry and chilly conditions.

If you're headed out to Camp Randall this evening to see the Badgers take on the No. 1 ranked Oregon Ducks, you may want to bundle up. Expect a kick off temperature near 47° at 6:30 this evening with wind gusts near 20 mph at times. A few isolated rain showers are a possibility across southern Wisconsin after 10 o'clock this evening as a weak cold front swings through the region. However, the majority of us should remain dry.
