Twelve games into the season, Riverside-Brookfield has dealt with an unusual schedule. The Bulldogs (8-4, 2-1 Upstate Eight) had a game canceled, then played two five-inning games against Elmwood Park last Tuesday and knocked off Oak Lawn 11-1 on Friday at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg. The Bulldogs had a rare Saturday off in April, spending the day doing their annual community cleanup to help give back to area residents. Still, Riverside-Brookfield has managed to keep on winning.

Lyons senior pitcher Tucker King made a few slight adjustments in the offseason. After posting a 7-2 record with 34 strikeouts and a 2.64 ERA last season to be named to the West Suburban Silver All-Conference team, King is showcasing a different version of himself on the mound this spring. And that’s bad news for Lyons’ future opponents. “I’ve been feeling great on the mound so far with a clear mind and confident,” King said.

Early this season, Lemont’s baseball team hit a snag. Lemont is coming off a strong showing last season, posting a 31-10 record with a second-place finish in Class 3A. Returning the majority of players from last season has raised the expectations for Lemont, but star senior outfielder/pitcher Jacob Parr suffered a high ankle sprain in an intra-squad game before the start of the season. The Ohio State recruit has not played this season.

Junior guard Josh Abushanab was primed for a breakout season in 2024-25. Just not in Glen Ellyn. After two solid seasons at Glenbard North, Abushanab transferred to Glenbard West in early June. He immediately provided an offensive and defensive boost for the Hilltoppers. The 6-foot-5 Abushanab missed the first few games, but is averaging 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in five games for the Hilltoppers. Glenbard West coach Jason Opoka is no stranger to high-level players with promise.
