"The loss is the loss. More importantly, it's Jayson I'm worried about." The future of the Boston Celtics may have been altered by what unfolded on Monday night at Madison Square Garden. Seeing a 14-point third-quarter lead slip away in a 121-113 loss to the New York Knicks was one thing. Seeing Jayson Tatum suffer what, as far as the optics, has the look of a very concerning injury, is a much more important matter.

"[I have] got to be ready for everything."Jrue Holiday had logged north of 33 minutes in each of his 23 playoff appearances with the Boston Celtics. That changed in Saturday's 115-93 win over the New York Knicks. Boston's crucial Game 3 victory turns this rivalry clash, at least geographically speaking, into a 2-1 second-round series. The Celtics' win at Madison Square Garden included Payton Pritchard logging more minutes than Holiday for the first time in a playoff tilt.

"He's doing everything he can to give us what he has."The Boston Celtics head to New York trailing the Knicks 2-0. After squandering two straight 20-point leads in the second half, they're on the brink of becoming the latest NBA champion to not advance past the second round the following postseason. It's a streak stretching to when the Golden State Warriors returned to the Finals in 2019. It would go a long way for the Celtics if they can get more from Kristaps Porzingis.

"You've got to be the same person when things are going well, and when things aren't going well."The Boston Celtics didn't become champions with a foundation they were willing to abandon when adversity arrived. They also didn't reach at least the Eastern Conference Finals in five of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown's first seven years together with a fickle identity.

"It kills me inside that it's happening in this moment."This year was supposed to be different. The Boston Celtics don't raise Banner 18 to the TD Garden rafters without Kristaps Porzingis. He helped them earn home-court advantage through the playoffs. He then gutted through a foot injury requiring summer surgery to play a pivotal role in the NBA Finals. That included registering 20 points, six rebounds, and three blocks in Game 1.

Kristaps Porzingis is not on the Celtics' Game 3 injury report. Sam Hauser - Right Ankle Sprain - is the only player listed. He is DOUBTFUL.

While Charania said "they have not been able to, I guess, completely identify which virus could this specifically be," Joe Mazzulla said on @985TheSportsHub today that they know the illness he's dealing with.

Shams on Porzingis on @PatMcAfeeShow: "My understanding…lingering side effects from the virus that he had in March…zapped his energy...He's had to rely on getting a lot more sleep over the last couple months. He's had to take IVs (and) immune boosters." https://t.co/fL9o163x0c
