MOORHEAD – Moorhead firefighters responded to two fire calls Friday night. The first one broke out just before 7:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of 5th St. S. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the back of a home, with flames spreading up the siding and soffit. They managed to quickly put the fire out before it spread to the attic. Everyone got out safely. Fire damage was limited to the home’s exterior, but there was some smoke and water damage inside.

FARGO – Fire caused significant damage to an apartment in Fargo Monday night, but no one was hurt. Crews were called to 2551 Villa Drive S. just before 10 p.m. They discovered a fire in the kitchen of one of the apartment units and put it out. Those living in that apartment were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

SAUK CENTRE, MN — A truck driver was killed in a semi crash in Central Minnesota Tuesday night. It happened on I-94 near Sauk Centre just after 11:30pm. The State Patrol says road conditions were dry when the semi left the road, hit the ditch and landed on its side. David Elders, 60, from Joliet, Illinois died in the crash. A passenger suffered non life-threatening injuries.

WILKIN COUNTY, MN – A Moorhead woman was hurt in a crash on I-94 near Rothsay on Thanksgiving morning. Ronda Peterson, 56, was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The State Patrol says Peterson lost control of her pickup on an icy stretch of pavement, left the road, and hit some trees.

CASS COUNTY, ND – A man was killed and a woman seriously hurt when their SUV slammed into a jackknifed semi on I-94. It happened about 12 miles west of Casselton just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The State Patrol says the 75-year old driver died at the scene. His 72-year old passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Troopers say roads were ice covered and there was falling snow and blowing snow. Two other commercial vehicles were jacknifed in that same area.

FARGO – Two Hillsboro residents were hurt in a crash on I-29 in Fargo Tuesday night. It happened near the 19th Avenue North exit just after 10:30 p.m.The State Patrol says a pickup rear-ended an SUV, injuring two people. The 74-year old driver of the pickup and his 71-year old passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the SUV was not hurt. The driver of the pickup could face charges. Troopers are still investigating. Roads were icy at the time.

RICHLAND COUNTY, ND – An Abercrombie, North Dakota man was hurt in a rollover in Richland County Monday night. It happened on County Road 81, 5 miles north of Dwight just after 6 p.m. The State Patrol says 30-year old Steven Nelk was reaching down to pick up his phone when he lost control of his pickup and hit the ditch. The pickup vaulted over a driveway and rolled twice. Nelk was not wearing a seatbelt.

MOORHEAD – Moorhead Police responded to a report of shots fired Monday night. Police were called to the 2700 block of 14th St. S. just after 9:30 p.m. Shell casings were found, but officers did not find any victims or property damage. Witnesses told police a dark-colored SUV may have been involved. Anyone who lives in that area is asked to check their security cameras and call police if they see anything suspicious.

FARGO -A man wanted in connection with a shooting in downtown Fargo early Thursday has been arrested. Gregory LaCroix, 37, was arrested in downtown Fargo just before 5:00 p.m. Thursday. He is facing attempted murder and fleeing charges and is being held in the Cass County Jail. The person who was shot suffered serious injuries. Police say the two knew each other. The victim’s name has not been released. The shooting happened at 3rd Ave.

CHRISTINE, ND – A Dickinson teenager was hurt when the pickup he was driving rear-ended a semi on I-29 in Richland County. It happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, about a mile south of Christine. The State Patrol says Tyson Schneider, 18, was taken to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The driver of the semi was not hurt and is not facing any charges. Troopers say Schneider failed to see that the semi was traveling at a slower speed when he rear-ended it.
