Carlsbad-based Viasat Inc. (Nasdaq: VSAT) is part of a team developing a lunar orbiting satellite system for the European Space Agency (ESA) called Moonlight.

    SAN DIEGO COUNTY – The San Diego County Bar Association has a unique way of supporting the troops. The region is home to more than 100,000 active-duty military, so it is common for a San Diego court to call a service member before a judge. It is also common for that service member to be far from home at that time. Under the bar association’s Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) program, the association assigns a volunteer lawyer to act on behalf of the sailor or Marine.

The privately held business announced those three developments from an eventful quarter in a March press release. Manish Narula, the company’s former CFO, is now chief executive of the company, which specializes in endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.

    The Prebys Foundation announced on April 11 that it bought the high-rise at 401 B Street in downtown San Diego. The building, which is also known by the name Wells Fargo Plaza, sold for $40 million, or $80 per square foot. The seller was The Irvine Company. “Following a competitive process that involved many potential buyers, we are pleased that the Prebys Foundation has purchased Wells Fargo Plaza,” said Adam Edwards, Managing Director of Eastdil Secured.

    SAN DIEGO – The U.S. Navy awarded two contracts related to the F-35 Lightning II aircraft in March, sending additional work to San Diego businesses supporting the F-35. Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT), is the prime contractor on the aircraft. Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) is one of the local contractors. The business produces the F-35’s communication, navigation and identification (CNI) avionics suite in San Diego’s North County. In all, the CNI system has 27 capabilities. Cubic Corp.
