A pair of awards won recently by Baxter Health are based on employee satisfaction, something the hospital is banking on in helping retain current personnel and attract new workers. The hospital won the Modern Healthcare Best Places to Work in Healthcare Award for the third consecutive year. Baxter Health also was among those honored by Arkansas Business as one of the Best Places to Work in the state, the fifth year in a row they have picked up the honor.

In the next seven years, two coal-fired energy plants in Arkansas are slated to be retired which could lead to higher energy prices and less energy according to the CEO of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative (NAEC) which serves over 38,000 members in a seven county area. Mel Coleman says it’s something that will affect all energy customers in the state, not just NAEC members.

Last Thursday night, the Mountain Home City Council voted 5-3 to approve the purchase of a new public safety camera system, but not before a number of citizens spoke out against the system. The council also voted 5-3 to move the ordinance to its third and final reading so it could be voted on that night. One of the council members to vote against the measure was Paige Evans. She says it was about the procedure, not the cameras themselves, that led to her no vote.
