Ole Miss star Madison Scott was taken by the Dallas Wings in the WNBA Draft on Monday night. The versatile Scott, who can play several positions, was selected with the second pick of the second round, 14th overall. Lafayette falls to Stone in 5A tennis semifinals

Lafayette’s reign on the tennis courts was halted on Monday. The Commodores lost 4-3 to Stone in the Class 5A state semfinals at the Halls Ferry Sports Complex in Vicksburg. Tupelo hopes to add to 2024-25 state title haul

It’s been a banner year for Tupelo High School sports, with state championships in girls cross country, football and girls basketball. The girls soccer team reached the state title game. And the Golden Wave might not be done. The tennis team will be in Oxford on Monday for the Class 7A state semifinals. If they can beat Ocean Springs, the Wave will then likely face Madison Central that same day in the finals. Madison knocked off Tupelo in last year’s title match, and that hasn’t been forgotten.

Another branch has sprouted from the Ingomar basketball coaching tree. Gray Spencer, an assistant for the Falcons the past two years, has been hired as head coach at Mooreville. Stanton, Hawks batter county rival in blowout win

MYRTLE - Myrtle broke out the bats in a big way Tuesday evening, and head coach Brandon Montgomery was glad to see it. The Hawks banged out 11 hits - including five for extra bases - and hammered Union County rival Ingomar 18-2 in a non-region matchup. Freshman Drew Stanton led the charge, going 3 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs.This was the sixth time in the last eight games that Myrtle (20-6) has scored in double digits.
