Former Lafayette High School baseball coach Patrick Robey has been hired to lead the Belhaven College program, the school announced Monday. Robey has spent most of his career at the high school level, including the last 10 years at Madison Central. He won three state titles with the Jaguars, including this past season. Prior to taking that job, Robey spent three seasons at Lafayette (2013-15), where he won 64 games and two region titles. He also spent 11 years at South Panola.

PONTOTOC – Tupelo is having to learn as it goes this summer – and there’s quite a bit to learn. The Golden Wave return just one starter in senior guard Jay Fields, and there are several candidates to fill the vacancies from last season’s 15-9 squad. The countdown to the 2025 high school football season has officially begun, and we know this because it is time again for my annual player position rankings. Over the next nine Fridays, I will list the top five area players at each major position group. I’ve been watching film, talking to coaches and parsing stats. It can be a tedious process, but it’s a great way for me to get back into football mode.
