ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico United and Colorado Springs Switchbacks played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night. It was the first time this season that United left a regular reason match with one point. The black and yellow’s lone goal came in the 21st minute. Marlon Vargas struck a one-timer off a rebound from the top of the box and scored his first goal of the regular season. Colorado Springs got on the board in the 41st minute off an own-goal from New Mexico United captain Kalen Ryden.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – 3,300 fans came to Tingley Coliseum on Friday night to witness BKFC 75. The night was headlined by the middleweight championship between the current champion, David Mundell, and Albuquerque’s Donald Sanchez. Sanchez was knocked down three times throughout the bout but got up every time. After five two minute rounds, Mundell won by unanimous decision. The judges scored the fight 94-43, 50,42, 94-43.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Another international player has committed to play for the Lobo basketball team. The latest is Timéo Pons, a 6′-8″ guard from France. Pons, 18, comes to UNM after spending the last few seasons with Nanteree. This season in the France-ProA U21, he averaged 14.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 steals. With the addition of Pons, 14 players are committed to play for the Lobos this season. The team will begin summer workouts later this month.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Alex Tambakis is already one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in USL history. He has another opportunity to add to his legacy on Saturday. United’s longtime keeper is already the all-time saves leader in league history. But he said his next accolade is the one that means the most to him. The all-time clean sheets leader. He is currently one away from that mark. “Yeah, I mean it’s going to be special,” he said.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Dates and times for 2025 college football bowl games have been announced. For the second year in a row, the Isleta New Mexico Bowl will take place the week between Christmas and the new year. This season, the bowl will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The game will kick of on Saturday, December 27 at 3:45 p.m. MT. It will be televised on ESPN.
