Tuesday high pressure drifts towards the Virginia coastline changing our northwest winds more southwesterly. Above us, high level winds continue to push wildfire smoke our way giving our day a near overcast appearance despite the clear skies we have. The thicker smoke will certainly give us a deeper red sunrise and sunset. Otherwise, easy day with temperatures soaring into the low 80s with even our higher elevations pushing into the 70s.

FLOOD WATCH: For Nicholas & Northwestern Pocahontas Counties through 2AM Saturday, May 31st. Under a flood watch, conditions are right for flooding to occur often issued before flooding has started. Use this time to prepare and monitor local conditions closely during and up to 6 hours after the rain ends.

Memorial Day Monday carries over overcast skies and light rain from the overnight for our morning hours. An area of low pressure across the Carolina Coastline keeps the gloomy chill around. Clouds will be awfully stubborn but we’ll manage a few peeks of sunshine at times. Light showers will roam first towards the southeast then drift back northeast later in the day. Much like the last few days, winds will pick up into the afternoon 10-15mph gusting as high as 25-30mph at times.
