If you liked Saturday’s temperatures, Sunday will be just as nice if only a degree or two warmer. Winds will be more noticeable ahead of some severe thunderstorms expected to push into Texoma as early as 8pm Sunday night. Similar to Thursday night’s storms, these will be a wait and watch during the day Sunday. Storms will move through all of Oklahoma during the day and what we see in Texoma Sunday night will depend on how they develop during the day.

Thursday’s summer solstice has meant this weekend has had the most amount of daylight and heat. All that sunshine means temperatures have been steadily climbing into the mid to upper 90s. But it’s the heat index that’s making it feel like 100+ degrees outside. It’s only going to get hotter Monday and Tuesday. The National Weather Service is already planning on issuing a Heat Advisory for many Texoma counties East of I-35 starting at noon Monday.

Summer may not officially start until Thursday, June 20th, but this weekend will make it feel like it started early. Father’s Day forecast is about as simple as they come: highs in the mid-90s with sunny skies. Quiet winds except for a few 20mph wind gusts on Sunday. It’s a perfect weekend for anything outdoors. We’re keeping an eye on the Gulf of Mexico for the potential of a tropical depression forming over the next week. If it forms, expect some rain chances in the middle of next week.

Memorial Day has been a warm one with temperatures topping out in the low 90s. Thankfully, dewpoints have dropped so humidity is not as much of a factor as it was on Sunday. However, rain and storm chances return as early as tonight and stick around all week long. Waves of showers and thunderstorms will form over Texoma and move through Texoma all week long. So there will be breaks with no rain and periods of time with extensive rainfall with some hail potential.

Absolute nightmare Saturday night in our Texoma communities. Multiple towns directly hit by tornadoes. The damage I saw last night from Sulphur broke my heart.
