Northport is grieving the presumed death of a 15-year-old student and athlete after a tragic accident during a trip to the western side of the state for the 1B State Baseball Tournament. Noah Heberling, a student at Northport High School and a member of the Mustangs baseball team, went missing Friday evening while visiting Long Beach with his teammates. According to officials, Heberling was caught in rough surf.

Bigfork athletes made their presence known at the Class A State Track and Field Championships held at Legends Stadium in Kalispell over the weekend. Despite a powerhouse collection of teams, the Vikings still were part of the conversation. The Bigfork boys tallied 26 team points to place just behind Hamilton and ahead of Polson in the final standings. The highlight came from junior Austin Savik, who delivered a pair of top-three finishes in the hurdles.
