A radio station in Elizabethton will see a new owner in the coming weeks. WBEJ is being purchased by Kenneth Hill, who owns Appalachian Radio Group and several other stations in the region. The radio station went on air in 1946 and is broadcast on both AM and FM frequencies. Hill said the station would keep the tradition of broadcasting local sports and the station’s popular show, Swap and Shop. “We will have local news that we have been doing since 1946,” Hill said.

Elizabethton native and Musician Daniel Grindstaff is releasing his first single from his new album “Friends and Heroes,” and there are some very popular names singing on the track. The song is a cover of Rod Stewart’s “Forever Young.”He reached out to friend and seven-time Grammy Award winner, Paul Brewster to sing on the track. Brewster said the track needed a female voice, and he suggested Dolly Parton. After a phone call and hearing the song, she agreed to join them.
