RENO, Nev. (WCYB) — Adverse weather conditions forced the delay and eventual suspension of play for ETSU men’s golf at the NCAA Reno Regional on Monday. At the time of suspension, the Bucs were tied for ninth at 5-over par through seven holes. Gavin Tiernan led ETSU at 1-over par, four shots off the lead in 12th. Yannick Malik and Ben Carberry were both 2-over at the suspension of play, and Joshua Pritchett and Kristian Bressum were both 4-over. Action will resume Tuesday morning.

According to reports, Len Dugger, a former state championship basketball coach at Elizabethton High School, died Monday. After starting his career coaching junior varsity basketball, Dugger took the reins of Elizabethton’s varsity boys basketball team in 1979. Counting an interim stint with the boys team in 2011-12, Dugger went 304-195 as the Cyclones’ head coach before Dugger stepped away from coaching. But following a 12-year hiatus, Dugger was back on the sideline better than ever.

Alongside a full day of region tournament baseball in East Tennessee, track and field also took the stage - marking the final chance for some athletes and teams to create a spot in state. In the Class AAA Sectional held at Science Hill, Dobyns-Bennett put on a show - finishing second as a team in both boys and girls final standings and won seven individual events from throws to jumps, sprints to relays.
