SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - It’s been a year since historic flooding hit Siouxland, and work continues to replace a major railroad bridge lost because of the floodwaters. The rising Big Sioux River destroyed a vital link between North Sioux City and Sioux City, the BNSF railroad bridge. The picture below shows the damage the floodwaters left behind and how much progress has been made with the replacement bridge. The collapsed bridge was removed last fall, following two separate controlled blasts.

STANTON, Neb. (KTIV) - A judge has sentenced a mother and son from Northeast Nebraska on drug charges in Stanton County. The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Kyle Kirstine and 64-year-old Debra Udell were both sentenced for possession of meth. Kristine was also sentenced for failure to appear. He got two years in prison for each charge but will serve both sentences at the same time. Udell got two years of probation for her meth possession charge.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Some impressive news from Norfolk, Nebraska, where the city is celebrating a local robotics team that is officially one of the best in the world. On Monday, May 19, Norfolk Mayor Shane Clausen and the city council recognized Norfolk Public Schools’ “Rebel Robotics Team.” The team took first place in the “Inspire Award” at the 2025 FIRST Tech Challenge World Championships in Houston, Texas. They came away with the top ranking, out of more than 8,500 teams from around the world.
