STANTON, Neb. (KTIV) - A judge has sentenced a mother and son from Northeast Nebraska on drug charges in Stanton County. The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Kyle Kirstine and 64-year-old Debra Udell were both sentenced for possession of meth. Kristine was also sentenced for failure to appear. He got two years in prison for each charge but will serve both sentences at the same time. Udell got two years of probation for her meth possession charge.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Some impressive news from Norfolk, Nebraska, where the city is celebrating a local robotics team that is officially one of the best in the world. On Monday, May 19, Norfolk Mayor Shane Clausen and the city council recognized Norfolk Public Schools’ “Rebel Robotics Team.” The team took first place in the “Inspire Award” at the 2025 FIRST Tech Challenge World Championships in Houston, Texas. They came away with the top ranking, out of more than 8,500 teams from around the world.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - For the nineteenth year in a row, kids are able to ride Sioux City transit buses for free during the summer. Sioux City Transit is offering its “Kids Ride Free” program again this summer, allowing parents to sign up for a pass for kids ages 5 to 18. The kids can ride the city buses as much as they want for free Monday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. The program goes through June, July and August.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - A Northwest Iowa American Legion post is helping two area veterans make an “Honor Flight” trip to our nation’s capital this summer. The “Pressman-Kosters American Legion Post #329” in Orange City presented a $2,000 check to Midwest Honor Flight organizers Monday afternoon in Orange City. That money will pay for two seats on the organization’s planned flight out of Sioux City, currently set for June. The organization has a May 1 fundraising deadline for that trip.
