COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — The Coeur d'Alene Ironman returns this weekend on June 22 and is expected to draw more than 2,000 athletes to the 70.3-mile course. Preparations are underway with the Ironman village set up, and early morning swimmers already taking to the water. The race begins with a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike ride. Several roads in Coeur d’Alene, including Highway 95 South, will be closed, affecting both northbound and southbound traffic.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A new tradition is quickly growing at one Spokane Public School. Holmes Elementary students are busing to class with a twist. "Yeah, it really is fantastic to see how much they truly enjoy it and also how much confidence they're building with each week," said Chelsea Hardenbrook, the community engagement manager for River City Youth. Since last fall, Hardenbrook and other volunteers with RCY have led a bike bus for students.

SPOKANE, Wash. —  Spokane Public Schools (SPS) board members will discuss the impacts of its stricter cell phone policy. This was the first year that SPS enforced these new standards, and with cell phones put away, school officials say they’ve seen less disruptive conduct from students and more engagement inside of classrooms As some background and ahead of this school year, the new cell phone policy mandated that elementary and middle schools be cell phone-free during school hours.
