SYRACUSE, N.Y — Syracuse police have maintained a heavy presence on the westside of Syracuse for several hours on Wednesday, January 15. The presence is based near Elliot and Arthur Streets, with several police cars, an ambulance, a crime scene van and other SWAT operations. Syracuse Police Officers have been seen approaching a home near the corner of Arthur and Elliot Streets by CNY Central crews, and speaking on a loud speaker. Several blocks of Arthur Street have been blocked off by police.

AUBURN, N.Y. — The Auburn Police Department is investigating a fatal collision between a car and pedestrian on Friday, January 10. The collision happened at the intersection of North Street and Lansing Street in the City of Auburn. The original dispatch was at 1:28 p.m. on Friday. An Auburn Police Department spokesperson said a mid-sized 4 door sedan has been traveling southbound on North Street when it crossed into the opposite lanes of traffic.

The Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School will remain closed until eight City of Syracuse code violations are resolved. A code inspection as of Tuesday, January 7 found the building at 1001 Park Avenue had the following violations:Violation one: Removal of or tampering with equipment. Violation two: Carbon monoxide alarms and detectors. Violation three: Mechanical equipment and appliances.

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. — Baldwinsville Central School District residents voted on Tuesday, December 10, to approve a $242,400,000 multi-year Funding Improvements & Building the Future capital improvement project. The three-phase project was approved by voters 1,217 to 424. “Thank you to everyone who came out to support this project that will Enhance Our Hive for years to come,” Superintendent Dr. Joseph M. DeBarbieri said.

NEDROW, N.Y. — The Onondaga County School District taxpayers voted 'no' to a proposal which would have provided the district with two 'free' electric school buses on Tuesday, December 3. Proposition one, for two 66-passenger EV buses failed 135 to 211. Instead, proposition two, for two 66-passenger gasoline buses and an addition 30-passenger gasoline bus passed 274 to 67.

SYRACUSE, N.Y — A 33-year-old man was shot and injured in Syracuse on Monday, December 2. Syracuse Police Officers responded to the 100 block of Fordham Road for a report of shots fired around Noon on Monday according to a press release. When they arrived, Officers did not locate any evidence of shots being fired, according to Syracuse Police. A short time later, a 33-year-old man arrived by private vehicle at Upstate University Hospital suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his back.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse Police Officers responded to a shooting with injuries dispatch on East Division Street in Syracuse on Wednesday, November 27. The dispatch happened around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Once on scene, the officers found an 18-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the lower back. The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital, and is expected to survive, according to Syracuse Police. A one-year-old dog was also hit by apparent gunfire.

SYRACUSE, N.Y — Tarky Lombardi Jr., a powerful Central New York figure in the New York State Senate for decades, has died at the age of 95. His obituary said he passed away peacefully at his home from kidney complications on Sunday, November 24. He devoted 33 years to public service, including 27 of those years as a State Senator. He is credited with helping receive state funding for some of Syracuse's most recognizable landmarks, including the Carrier Dome.
