Burning yard debris is prohibited in Bibb, Houston, and other counties through September 30 due to air quality protection. MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Middle Georgia summer burn restrictions 2025 are now active through September 30, affecting dozens of counties in the region. From May 1 through the end of September, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) prohibits residents in both Middle and North Georgia from burning yard waste and land-clearing debris.

No injuries reported; Sheriff’s Office launches internal investigation into accidental gun discharge at school FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A school resource officer’s firearm was accidentally discharged this morning while preparing for duty in an area of the school restricted to students, according to a statement from Sheriff Buck Shannon. No injuries occurred as a result of the accidental discharge, and the school continued normal operations without disruption.
