WMGT-TV (Macon, GA)

WMGT-TV has been an NBC affiliate since it first went on air as WCWB-TV on September 30, 1968. It was the second commercial station to launch in the Middle Georgia area, going up against a local CBS affiliate that had started in 1953. It wasn't until 1982 that Macon welcomed a full ABC affiliate. The station was established by Charles Woods, a broadcaster from Dothan, Alabama. In 1974, it was sold to a local organization named Bibb Television, Inc. In 1978, Morris took over the station, marking their entry into the broadcasting industry. The station's studios are situated at the transmitter site, which is located 15 miles east of Macon along what is known locally as the "Cochran Short Route" (US-129).
