Today marks the end of May, which makes Saturday the start of meteorological summer. It’ll shape up to be a rather summery weekend overall with seasonable warmth and a couple of rounds of rain to track. Our Friday begins with morning showers for eastern Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin near and ahead of a cold front. Rain chances will taper off west to east with the Twin Ports drying out in the morning, but showers and thunderstorms may linger in northwest Wisconsin this afternoon.

Our Thursday starts with areas of frost possible in the Arrowhead and northwest Wisconsin. A light jacket is needed early on for this brisk start to the day, but we’ll soon be back in shorts and t-shirts as highs top off in mid-70s away from Lake Superior today. Expect a high near 70 for the Duluth International Airport, meanwhile a southeast wind keeps lakeside areas in the mid-50s.
