Thursday was business as usual at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, the lone Canada stop on the PGA Tour’s schedule at Oakdale Golf and Country Club. Corey Conners is looking to become the first Canadian to win the tournament since Pat Fletcher in 1954, and he’s tied for the lead after the first round, the first time a Canadian has held a share of the first-round lead since Mike Weir did it in 2004. Conners is at 5 under, along with Aaron Rai, Justin Lower and Chesson Hadley.

What a week it has been. And there’s still a golf tournament to play. Tuesday’s news was shocking, as the PGA Tour announced a merger with the Public Investment Fund and DP World Tour that will reshape the landscape of professional golf. However, those changes are coming down the road. This week, the PGA Tour is back in Canada at a new venue, Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Ontario, for the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. It’s a par-72 layout measuring 7,264 yards.
