This week marked the fifth anniversary of the world shutting down and COVID-19 taking over our lives for well over a year. What happened during that time can never be allowed to happen again. I firmly believe it was a crime against humanity by a select few. We allowed local, state and federal governments and global entities unchecked power to ruin lives in the name of public health.

Having been involved with Main Street Russellville — a Main Street America affiliate aimed at revitalizing downtownareastorenew a thriving marketplace and community space — and in thinking back to similar events she’d seen in other town squares throughout her travels, Ray said the idea for an annual art crawl was born.

Russellville’s softball team went on the road and got its first win of the season with a 12-2 victory over the Haleyville Lions on March 10. The Lady Golden Tigers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning and went on to score four runs in the third, one in the fourth and six more in the final frame of the five-inning contest. Haleyville scored one run in the bottom of the first and another in the third. RHS outhit the Lady Lions 13-6.
