Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has referred to the security measures surrounding foreign dignitaries attending a parade in Red Square next week marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Days after he was accused of threatening to disrupt the Victory Day parade event in Moscow, Zelensky told reporters Kyiv "cannot be responsible" for what happens on Russian territory during the commemorations which will be attended by China's president Xi Jinping and other leaders.

A Ukrainian sea drone downed a $50-million Russian fighter jet over the Black Sea in what has been described as a world first, according to military intelligence in Kyiv. Ukraine's intelligence agency, the GUR, published video of what it said was an unprecedented operation near the Russian port of Novorossiysk using a Magura sea drone that was equipped with a missile warhead. Ukraine's claims have not been independently verified and Newsweek has contacted the Russian defense ministry for comment.

A Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea coast has sparked a state of emergency, according to local officials. The attack on the city of Novorossiysk in Russia's Krasnodar region took place overnight Friday and injured at least five people, according to the city's mayor. Much of Russia's Black Sea Fleet has been moved to the city in the Krasnodar region which is east of Crimea, the peninsula occupied by Russia since 2014, separated by the Kerch Strait.
