The vast majority of Illawarra home owners made a six-figure profit by re-selling their property during the March quarter, new figures show. According to Cotality's latest Pain and Gain report, 94.9 per cent of sellers made a profit across Australia, with a median profit of $305,000. This was down from $310,000 in the previous quarter. According to the report, during this period in the Illawarra, 96.7 per cent of all re-sales turned a gross profit.

A family-friendly vibe and the appeal of newer subdivisions is helping push one part of the Illawarra towards joining the million-dollar property club. A new Ray White report has revealed the areas of the Illawarra already boasting a median house price of $1 million or more. According to the report, one new suburb area joined the million-dollar club in the past 12 months. Shellharbour-Oak Flats now sits at $1,000,550, having grown from $958,204 a year ago, a 4.42 per cent increase.
