Easter Sunday started with sunshine and cooler temperatures across Wisconsin, but folks should prepare for scattered showers and possible thunderstorms later in the day. Morning temperatures dropped into the upper 30s under clear skies, but conditions will change as a strengthening low-pressure system moves northeast from the central Plains. Cloud cover will spread across Wisconsin with scattered showers entering the region during the early afternoon.

Temperatures have dropped into the 40s across southeastern Wisconsin following a cold front that moved through the area yesterday. The front has pushed south into Illinois and Indiana, bringing cooler air to the region for the Easter weekend. Light mist and drizzle have been observed near the lakefront this morning, but conditions will improve as the day progresses. Today will feature mostly to partly cloudy skies with high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 50s.

Cloud cover has spread over Wisconsin in the last 12 hours. Overnight lows only fell back into the mid 40s - lower 50s. A mild start means highs will remain in the 50s and 60s later today. An area of low-pressure moves through the state this afternoon and into Monday. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible after 1 p.m. - especially North of Milwaukee. Despite the rain chance, it's not a washout! Overall, conditions remain mild today with lots of cloud cover around.

Overnight lows dipped into the upper 20s and lower 30s across southern Wisconsin. Given ample sunshine, temperatures quickly rose through the 30s just past sunrise. Highs climb into the upper 50s at the lakefront today with a southeast breeze off Lake Michigan. Highs could surge into the lower 60s farther inland. A developing area of low pressure moves across northern Wisconsin on Sunday. Increasing cloud cover is expected tonight along with a few spotty showers and perhaps a clap of thunder.

April snow and cold tend to get an eye roll when they show up in the weather forecast. Pause for a second and consider a major late-season snowstorm. It's enough April snow to cripple traffic, close schools and even delay the Milwaukee Brewers from kicking off their season at home. Well that did happen on April 9, 1973. A late-season storm system would bring more than a foot of snow to the Milwaukee area in mid-April. Mike Gliszinski jogged our memories when he sent an email to Storm Team 4.
