MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee woman who recently relocated to South Carolina is warning others about unexpected moving costs after she paid nearly double what she was quoted. Gloria Phillips was hit with huge surcharges during her move from Milwaukee to South Carolina and says she ultimately paid more than $4,000 for a service initially quoted at about $2,600. “There were a number of companies that I looked at, and I finally saw Vantage Movers,” Phillips said.

MUKWONAGO — What started as a peaceful hike at Paradise Springs ended in panic for a Mukwonago family when 7-year-old Charly Grall-Kahn suffered a traumatic hand injury. Charly was throwing rocks near the pond when one slipped. Instead of going out, the rock came right back down. “I tried to throw it out, but it slipped out of my hand,” she said. “I put my hands down on the concrete wall, and it just came down on my hand. I knew I had broken bones.

MILWAUKEE — Kim Schultz is proud to talk about her uncle Jim Dorn. Dorn left a lasting legacy after opening Your Place, the first gay-owned bar in Milwaukee's Walker's Point neighborhood in the 1960s. "Jim was always very friendly, very outgoing, very generous. He loved people," Schultz told TMJ4 News. Dorn and his boyfriend Jerry Stinson ran the bar on South 1st Street by National Avenue. The gay bar grew in popularity in the 1970s and 1980s. It was the first of its kind in Walker's Point.

MILWAUKEE — The window of a Bay View bar displaying different pride flags was damaged Sunday night when someone threw a rock through the glass. The Sugar Maple, located off Lincoln Avenue and just steps from busy Kinnickinnic Avenue, had its window partially smashed while a bartender was inside closing up for the night. "It's a scary thing," said Xay Matabele, who is a bartender and the events coordinator at The Sugar Maple.
