Two Broadway musicals with Vermont ties received a combined eight Tony Award nominations. “Floyd Collins,” with music and lyrics by Vermont resident Adam Guettel, received six nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical. “Smash,” featuring Vermont native Merritt David Janes, received two nominations. The Tony Awards will be presented June 8 at Radio City Music Hall and broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.

Switchback Brewing has gone all-in on barbecue. The Burlington beer maker that began in 2002 and opened the Switchback Tap House & Beer Garden a year ago has rebranded the Flynn Avenue eatery as the Switchback Beer Garden & Smokehouse. The menu isn’t a wholesale switch of the original pub-food lineup but does veer more specifically toward house-smoked meats.

The Preservation Burlington Homes Tour is back this weekend for another run, giving those interested in the city’s architectural history a glimpse inside a half-dozen buildings. The tour, which runs from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, lets participants take a look at a couple of church buildings, Greek Revival brick homes on St. Paul Street and a pair of Mid-Century Modern homes. The tour is self-guided (with the help of community volunteers). Light refreshments will be served along the way.

June is Pride Month, when the LGBTQ community celebrates its culture and creativity. Some groups in Vermont don’t want to wait until June – a couple of events take place in late May to take advantage of the weekend leading into Pride Month. You may notice a relative lack of Pride events in Burlington, which is Vermont’s largest city. The city’s big Pride parade takes place this year on Sept. 7.
