The state's biggest sporting event returns later this month. The M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay is slated for its 34th Memorial Day weekend, and 35th edition overall, in Burlington. McDonald's has a new McFlurry, but there's a catch: You'll have to drive across the border to Canada if you want to try it. But from Burlington, you can be over the border and in Canada about an hour if you are determined to try the new McFlurry. The new flavor? Birthday Cake. The new dessert marks the 30th anniversary of the McFlurry, which was first invented in Canada. The McFlurry was first created by a Canadian McDonald's franchisee in Bathurst, New Brunswick, in 1995.

Jackson Skipper is returning to Vermont basketball. The former Catamount — who left Burlington to play at Oral Roberts this past winter — is transferring back to Vermont, The Athletic's Tobias Bass reported on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, on Monday afternoon. Skipper also announced his commitment to Vermont on social media.

Fidium Fiber is expanding its internet network in Chittenden County, aiming to provide high-speed access to over 1,800 homes and businesses, according to a community announcement. The expansion, in partnership with the Chittenden County Communications Union District (CCCUD), targets unserved and underserved areas in Essex Town, Jericho, Shelburne, Westford and Williston. Construction is set to begin as early as May 12 in Shelburne, with plans to continue throughout the summer.
