    Voters in Pike County only had one ballot measure to vote on in the May 6 Primary Election unless they lived in Ward 4 of Waverly. Residents in that precinct had two measures to decide. The minimal number of issues on the ballot kept many people away from the polls, rather than attracting voters to come out and vote. Only 701 ballots were cast in a county with more than 18,000 registered voters. The voter turnout was 3.87% in Pike County.

    PIKETON — On Thursday, April 24, Scioto Valley Local School District (SVLSD) announced a partnership with Valley View Health, with support from the Community Action Committee of Pike County, the Appalachian Children’s Coalition and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The partnership and support along with $1.6 million awarded from the state will allow the district to open an on-campus health center.

    The Pike County Board of Commissioners met with Pike County Airport Board President Sara Junk Monday morning at its regularly scheduled meeting. The airport board and commissioners planned to use FY 2022 grant money to aid in construction of the new six bay hangars.     George Washington “Billy” Wagner’s attorneys were in court Friday, but Wagner was not there. Wagner waived his right to be present at the hearing Friday in Pike County Common Pleas Court. Wagner along with his wife and two sons are accused of killing seven members of the Rhoden family and Hannah Gilley in April of 2016. Nine years later the final member of the Wagner has yet to go on trial for the murders.
