    Australia's Oscar Piastri says he doesn't know if his McLaren will be more competitive at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, after a horror showing last time out in Miami. Piastri and teammate Lando Norris had a miserable race in the United States, with McLaren the slowest of the 10 teams. Piastri finished 19th after being slowed by brake problems, while Norris could only manage 17th.

    Boom youngster Sam Short is a realistic hope of claiming an Olympic gold medal in Paris, according to Australian legend Grant Hackett. Hackett said he was in "disbelief" after Short's performance at April's Australian Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast, with the 19-year-old clocking the 10th fastest time in history for the 400m freestyle.

    Those involved in the Hawthorn racism investigation have "every right to be angry" with the delays in resolving the claims, according to Nine sports presenter Tony Jones. A report in 2022 made serious allegations against former Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson, his former assistant Chris Fagan, and the club's former development manager Jason Burt. The trio has denied the allegations. Eight months after that report was made public the investigation, headed up by Bernard Quinn KC, remains ongoing.

    Jofra Archer is reportedly set to be offered a year-round, multi-million dollar deal by IPL side Mumbai Indians, that would see the ECB required to ask permission if they wanted to pick the fast bowler for England. The Daily Mail reports that IPL franchises are keen on introducing the all-encompassing contracts as soon as 2025. Mumbai's owners also have T20 teams in South Africa, the UAE and the United States, making the option of contracting players on year-long deals an attractive proposition.

Reports emerged on Thursday morning that Field, a fanatical Tigers fan, wanted to purchase the licence and split the joint venture back into the two original clubs, with Balmain returning to its spiritual home at Leichhardt Oval.
