The Atlanta Hawks ended last season on an even state. They had split 82 games equally with 41 wins and 41 losses. That was good enough for a .500 percentage and a #7 overall ranking. Great at home with a 24-17 average, not so good anywhere that wasn’t State Farm Arena with a 17-24 away average. Those numbers earned them a spot in the playoffs. It didn’t however, give them longevity. The Boston Celtics would do in the Hawks four games to two.

Although they would not end the year as either, they still stand strong and ready to conquer the College Football world in 2024. When the clock struck midnight, 2023, UGA kicker Jack Podlesny punched in a field goal that would seal the victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes, 41-42 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl at Mercedes Benz Stadium.

The Atlanta Falcons gave themselves and their fans the gift of a home win. Something they deserved, and needed. Christmas Eve in Mercedes Benz Stadium saw the Falcons beating the Indianapolis Colts 29-10. With the Colts coming to the Benz with an 8-6 record and considering the Falcons’ middling record so far this season, Falcon fans had every reason to expect yet another lump of coal in their collective stockings to add to the 8 lumps they already got.
