The Top 10 hit "Hip to be Square" by Huey Lewis and the News makes the absurd claim that it's somehow cool to be completely lame. Even using the terms "hip" and "square" was pretty weak for 1986 when the single was released, though if they had called the song "Dope to be Whack" it would still seem antiquated as well as working under a flawed premise. It's a scientific fact that coolness is cool and lameness sucks, which applies to objects, behaviors, and anything else that exists.

It remains unclear if it's the size, number of cylinders, or architecture, but in general, V-8s are very reliable engines that will deliver a lifetime of use with some basic maintenance. Of course, for every rule, there are exceptions, and the biggest "but" is the Ford Flathead V-8 of the Model 32, which was a notorious oil burner. Also, the Germans (Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz) have turned out some fairly sub-par V-8s, but for the most part, they are rock-solid engines.
