The world of hypercars is heating up, especially with the new Corvette ZR1X on the scene boasting mega horsepower and what will likely be a price that vastly undercuts the exotic competition. That competition includes Lamborghini, which duPont REGISTRY is reporting will have an answer for the ZR1X in the form of a new model called the Fenomeno that promises to be the most powerful, most expensive, and rarest car the company has ever sold.

Lamborghini's Chief Technical Officer, Rouven Mohr, says that he views synthetic, or e-fuels, as a potential "savior of the combustion engine." The company has long held that a very key part of its appeal to buyers is its emotional appeal: the sound and sensations generated by a gasoline-powered engine are paramount to the Italian marque, and it makes sense that Lamborghini would pin its hopes on an alternative to fossil-based fuels.

The new 2026 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 is now the most powerful GTI ever. It's still front-driven, but with more than 300 horsepower, it's nearly as powerful as the all-wheel drive Golf R. Previously, the hardcore Golf GTI Clubsport held that record with its 296 hp turbo-four. Unfortunately, just like that special edition GTI, this one won't be coming to the US either. Volkswagen will only sell the special edition, which celebrates the GTI's 50th anniversary, as the name implies, in Europe.
