Bob’s Steak and Chop House has earned its place as one of Dallas’ most iconic dining destinations, known for its prime cuts and traditional, no-nonsense approach to steakhouse dining. Founder Bob Womack sat down with Local Profile at the Bob’s in McKinney to reflect on the journey that turned a small, struggling restaurant into a beloved institution.

III Forks has always been about steak. The beloved Texas steakhouse reopened in Addison with a new flagship that trades old-school swagger for something sleeker, warmer and quietly luxurious. We love it. Opening this spring in Village on the Parkway (in a former Chico's, that's been fully revamped and fully built out), this flagship reinvention doesn’t just freshen things up. It almost feels like a reboot. Gone is the trad steakhouse dining room.

I love burgers. I mean, I truly love burgers — and have eaten fantastic burgers all over the world, from New York to Tokyo and lots of places in between. Dave Culwell loves burgers, too. Great, but you know what really matters? He makes some of the best ones in Dallas. And he's already eyeing Collin County. Burger Schmurger opened on April 30 in East Dallas, near my old Lake Highlands stomping grounds, with This & That Hospitality.

Starting something new is hard. There are bumps along the way, but sometimes even newcomers hit the ground running. During late last week's (and weekend's!) SAVOR, we kept thinking that we couldn't believe this was the festival's first year. But the folks at OMNI PGA Frisco are no neophytes. They know exactly what they're doing. So in late April, during a press conference, when they said they wanted to bring the biggest food, drink, music and golf festival to North Texas, we knew.

Summer is around the corner. Kids will be at home and if you've got 'em, vacation planning starts now. Here in North Texas, there are oodles of options for summertime fun, including escapes on the other side of the Red River. Oklahoma is always a prime getaway for us in Collin and Denton counties, with great options for nature, music and, of course, gambling. But a newly-opened resort might just be the most kid-friendly option in the entire state.

Well they made boring new stations so this seems inevitable, sadly!

🎶❌ SAY GOODBYE TO UNIQUE STATION MELODIES?? A Thread 🧵 Frequent users of Tokyo's JR trains have started to notice something: Wait a minute—are all the melodies becoming standardized? What happened to the original jingles at each station?? It seems that JR has started https://t.co/bBzHKDUF1G

Immediate comparison is, of course, when Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees and the decades-long curse that followed 🫠

Genuinely, this is the most soul-crushing 2 months any sports fanbase has ever had to experience, and it’s not close https://t.co/8DdeBbx6op

Expo 70, also in Osaka, wasn’t like this: locals went repeatedly

A new poll asked Japanese if they planned to visit the World Expo in Osaka. 87% answered either "not going" or "probably not going." https://t.co/df5B6iqDEa
