Berlin police arrested Victor Pino on Monday night after an encounter with the 42-year-old Montpelier man that began when people spotted Pino darting in front of vehicles on Vermont Route 12 near Pine Hill Drive in Berlin.Police say when they arrived on scene, Pino did not follow their directions, resisted arrest and then tried to take one of the officer's duty weapons. Pino is also accused of biting the officers multiple times during the struggle. He was subdued and taken into custody.

New York State Police have arrested 40-year-old Chad Nichols of Vermontville in connection with the shooting death of Jahfari Joseph. According to police, Nichols is going to face charges of hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence in Clinton County. He's also going to be charged in the town of Franklin with concealment of a human corpse, hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence.

An investigation is underway after a person was found dead inside a house fire in Sharon. Crews responded to the home on Vermont Route 14 on Thursday morning after someone passing by saw smoke and fire coming from the basement of the home and called 911. The Sharon Fire Department and other departments nearby arrived on scene. According to Vermont State Police, the firefighters were told that the person who lived at the home was unaccounted for.
