A southerly flow in our weather will bring our temperatures back into check over the weekend as high temperatures climb into the lower 40s on Saturday afternoon to the lower 50s on Sunday. We will be above freezing for the first time in several days. Clouds will start out our Saturday morning but will give way to sunshine as we will cash in a strong cold Artic high pressure system for more of a warm subtropical high pressure system.

The Franklin-Simpson Middle School Lady Cats’ basketball team played their first 13th District game of the season Nov. 14 against the Russellville Middle School Lady Panthers at the F-S Middle School Gym. The Lady Cats played valiantly but could not overcome their deficit as they dropped their first 13th District game of the season 29-22. Not much scoring took place in the first quarter as there were missed shots and turnovers from both teams.

Franklin-Simpson Lady Cat and Wildcat basketball teams took part in the annual Paul Gray Prep Sports Basketball Media Day Sunday, Nov. 10-11 at Bowling Green High School. The media event consisted of all 17 boys’ and girls’ teams from around the region to be interviewed by select members of the media to discuss their upcoming seasons.

The Franklin-Simpson Lady Cats’ soccer team celebrated their historic season with their season ending banquet on Tue. Nov. 5 at the FSHS Cafeteria. “It has truly been a great season,” Lady Cats’ head coach Mike Stovall said. “The accomplishments we have made this season were huge for the program and to where we want to go. We accomplished a lot this season and we have more to accomplish. Next season, I am expecting more from each and everyone of you.

Franklin-Simpson High School senior LaReesha Cawthorn signed her letter of intent to play collegiate basketball for the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles Friday at the F-S Performing Arts Center. Located in Cookeville, Tenn., Tennessee Tech was formerly named the University of Dixie and Tennessee Polytechnic Institute.
