The Franklin-Simpson Middle School Lady Cats’ basketball team played their first 13th District game of the season Nov. 14 against the Russellville Middle School Lady Panthers at the F-S Middle School Gym. The Lady Cats played valiantly but could not overcome their deficit as they dropped their first 13th District game of the season 29-22. Not much scoring took place in the first quarter as there were missed shots and turnovers from both teams.

Franklin-Simpson Lady Cat and Wildcat basketball teams took part in the annual Paul Gray Prep Sports Basketball Media Day Sunday, Nov. 10-11 at Bowling Green High School. The media event consisted of all 17 boys’ and girls’ teams from around the region to be interviewed by select members of the media to discuss their upcoming seasons.

The Franklin-Simpson Lady Cats’ soccer team celebrated their historic season with their season ending banquet on Tue. Nov. 5 at the FSHS Cafeteria. “It has truly been a great season,” Lady Cats’ head coach Mike Stovall said. “The accomplishments we have made this season were huge for the program and to where we want to go. We accomplished a lot this season and we have more to accomplish. Next season, I am expecting more from each and everyone of you.

Located in Cookeville, Tenn., Tennessee Tech was formerly named the University of Dixie and Tennessee Polytechnic Institute.

The culmination of the regular season was on hand Friday night as the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats went on the road to play the Warren East Raiders. The Wildcats already have their playoff berth locked up in Class 3-A while the Raiders needed to win to ensure theirs. Warren East’s offense was basically unstoppable as they scored on nearly every offensive possession to defeat Franklin-Simpson 50-27 at Jim Ross Field in Bowling Green.

The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats’ soccer team opened the 4th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament with a 5-2 victory over the Glasgow Scotties in the quarterfinal round last Sunday. With the victory, the Wildcats have advanced to the semifinal round of the region tournament for the fourth consecutive season in a row. “We could have used last Thursday’s game as a setback,” Carter Bush said. “Today, we stepped up.

The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats’ soccer team were eliminated in the semifinal round of the 4th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament by the South Warren Spartans 2-1 Oct. 15 at Warren East High School. The Wildcats scored the first goal of the match as Zander Goodnight forced the ball out of bounds. Griff Banton’s throw-in was deep in the scoring box and went into the goal scoring net off the deflection of a Spsartans’ player for a 1-0 lead at 10:36.

At the conclusion of the 13th District Boys Soccer Tournament on Oct. 10, selections to the 13th District Boys All-District Season Team were announced. Selections for this award were made by the four 13th District coaches Justin Dyer from Franklin-Simpson, Trevar Gray from Logan County, Jeramy Rust from Russellville and Mike Smith from Todd County Central. Selected from Franklin-Simpson were Griff Banton. Brody Johnson, Oscar Lopez and Brody McAlister.

Franklin-Simpson High School’s Football Homecoming is an event unlike any other and the annual event lives up its moniker that says “Nobody does Football Homecoming like Franklin-Simpson High School.”Originally scheduled for last Friday, homecoming was moved to this Friday because of inclement weather.
