1 Introduction In their seminal study describing functional analysis methodology, Iwata et al. (1982/1994) arranged four experimental conditions in a multielement design with nine participants who engaged in varying topographies of self-injury (e.g., head banging, self-biting). Three of the four conditions were test conditions (i.e., social disapproval, academic demand, and alone), and each test condition was designed to isolate a specific source of suspected reinforcement for self-injury.

The prevalence of developmental disabilities in the United States has increased over the last 25 years (Boyle et al., 2011; Zablotsky et al., 2019). Due to this increase in prevalence, further research is required to understand the unique behavioral challenges present in this population. One such challenge is destructive behavior (Emerson et al., 2001).

Now that former president Donald Trump has been indicted over his retention of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, the term “CIPA” is quickly becoming part of the public discourse. CIPA stands for the Classified Information Procedures Act, and it’s a 1980 statute designed to address the discoverability and use of classified information in criminal trials. It will play a critical role in Trump’s prosecution.
