    Lake Bridgeport will reopen to recreational boating at noon today, the Tarrant Regional Water District announced Wednesday. The lake has been closed since last Wednesday, April 30, because of high lake levels and safety concerns. “We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during this closure,” David Geary, TRWD’s director of reservoir operations, said in a news release announcing the lake reopening.

    Former New Fairview Fire Rescue chief Arne Wissmann has been indicted by a Wise County grand jury for theft of property $150,000 to $300,000 enhanced. According to court records, Wissmann, 53, was indicted on the first degree felony offense April 24. Investigators say they found evidence Wissmann stole more than $156,000 from the fire department for personal use over a nearly four-year span. Wissmann was arrested Jan. 8 and released the same day after posting $50,000 bond.

Accountability ratings are based on the results of State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) testing. Texas public school students are required to take the STAAR test beginning in third grade, with results used to gauge both individual and campus-wide academic performance year over year.
