With 48 children currently in custody, the child placement program for Williams County Job and Family Services (JFS) is facing the possibility of running out of money by the fall. The Williams County commissioners met Thursday with JFS Fiscal Officer Christie Roan, who said current projections show the child placement program being in the red by $375,000 by October, and by nearly $700,000 by the end of the year.

The Williams County Land Reutilization Corp. (land bank) has been awarded a state grant to help demolish a portion of the Bryan Arts and Education building. The land bank was recently provided $414,851 from the Ohio Department of Development through its Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program as part of a total of $60 million in grants throughout the state. The funds from the state will be used to help pay for asbestos abatement and demolition of the south portion of the building.
