Bryan City Council and the Bryan Board of Public Affairs (BPA) are considering changes to their committee structure in what is being described as ways to avoid violating Ohio's Sunshine Laws designed to make government transparent. While it is true the proposed changes coming from the city's law director will help avoid violating the sunshine laws, the changes are not necessarily going to make city government more transparent.

Bryan City Council continues to look at legislation to regulate electronic mobility devices, and will decide if it wants to be more restrictive than the state. Last week, new legislation was introduced that differed from a previous version for the city. The newer ordinance more closely resembled a law passed recently by the Ohio legislature.

The Williams County Land Reutilization Corp. (land bank) opened bids recently for some properties to demolish. One bid was received for 101 Baubice St. in Pioneer, with the low bid being $154,336. Two bids were received for a property at 100 S. Defiance St. in Stryker. One bid was for $30,080 and the other was for $58,250. Two bids were also received for a property at 102 N. Depot St. in Stryker, with those bids being $91,500 and the other being $86,630.

For two Williams County EMS employees, helping people in an emergency just seemed like a natural career choice as well as a family affair. Kodie Carlisle of Edgerton started with Williams County EMS in 2014, took a short break away and then came back. He is a paramedic, meaning he's certified to provide more invasive emergency techniques, especially in cardiac situations.
