LAKE WALES, Fla. — The Lake Wales Police Department is currently conducting a homicide investigation. According to Police Department press release, the investigation is at a home in the Lake Ashton community. The suspect is in custody at this time and there is no threat to the community, police officials said. This remains an active investigation and detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police will provide updates as more information becomes available.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Clearwater woman was arrested on Friday, after she allegedly tried to shoot a security guard at a local business, authorities said. Kelley Karabinos, 36, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, driving under the influence and fleeing and eluding. She was taken into custody shortly before midnight after the incident at a smoke shop in the 1500 block of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.

TAMPA, Fla — One person was listed in critical condition on Saturday after the victim was rescued from a Tampa house fire. Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the fire on the 1600 block of East Idell Street at 10:30 a.m.Multiple people called 911 to report that a resident was possibly trapped inside. On arrival, fire crews found a single-story residential home, heavily involved with smoke and flames.

Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County has issued a Mosquito-Borne Illness Advisory based on the spike in West Nile Virus. Pinellas County Mosquito Control has seen increased transmission of mosquito-borne West Nile Virus through its sentinel chicken illness detection program.
