CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Nearly 5 years after the 2020 derecho, some places still look like a snapshot in time. Trees are down, broken limbs cover the ground, and massive root balls are exposed. A lot of that damage is on public hunting land. The Department of Natural Resources keeps pieces of property there, preserves them for conservation, and creates habitats for wildlife. Doug Wyman is a lifelong hunter. “Was hunting with my dad when I was like 7 years old,” he said.

Iowa soybean farmers could feel a direct impact from China’s retaliatory tariff threat. China is the largest consumer of US soybeans. The USDA said it bought nearly $13 billion worth of the American crop last year.
