On the Columbus Blue JacketsDear Brian: After reading the “What’s Next” article with “Five Things” the Blue Jackets need to improve, I have a suggestion. First, it should be forbidden by anyone in the Blue Jackets organization to refer to the next upcoming season at any time as a “rebuilding year” and then say wait until the next year.

Fairbanks softball player Maddi Sines is the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Athlete of the Week for April 14-20. Sines had eight hits, including two doubles and two triples, and eight RBIs in four games. Sines received 49.5% of the vote and was followed by Olentangy Liberty lacrosse player Madeline Pohmer with 37.5%.

On the Columbus CrewDear Brian: When the Crew owners and management moved the Crew vs Inter Miami game to Cleveland, a great many loyal Crew fans felt sucker-punched by the Crew. The Crew told season-ticket holders that they would be given “comparable seats" in Cleveland.

Grove City lacrosse player Gavin Ryan is the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Athlete of the Week for April 7-13. Ryan had four goals and two assists in a 17-4 win over Kettering and six goals and two assists in a 13-7 win over Johnstown. Ryan received 61.1% of the vote and was followed by Columbus Academy lacrosse player Kyndal Singleton who had 38.7%.

Liberty Union softball player Ryleigh Brown is the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Athlete of the Week for March 31-April 6. Brown had a two-run walk-off home run against Fairfield Union and is batting .667 (8 for 12) with six RBIs.Brown received 69.8% of the vote and was followed by Bloom-Carroll softball player Madelyn Gates, who had 25.3, and Teays Valley softball player Alyvia Lawrentz (4.5%).
