Walking is a staple in my weekly routine. I log a 3.5-mile loop around my neighborhood at least a few times per week. Lately, I have noticed an interesting trend. At least half of the women I pass on my route have a new accessory along for the walk: ankle weights. And they aren’t the clunky, primary-colored versions of aerobics-classes past. The streamlined pastel designs make them as much a fashion statement as a fitness tool.
