Amnesty International is urgently calling on the NSW government to investigate allegations of discrimination after Aboriginal children were told to leave a public swimming pool in northern New South Wales. NSW Police were called to the Inverell Aquatic Centre on Sunday after reports from staff that some children were 'misbehaving', but parents allege all Aboriginal children were ordered out of the pool.

It is hard to imagine more harrowing testimony than that of heartbroken families of murdered and missing Aboriginal women. When you sit with the loved ones of Indigenous women who have been killed and then routinely let down by the press, police and politicians, you get an unvarnished look into the dark heart of Australia. Families who pleaded with police to search for the bodies of their sisters. Mothers who said goodbye to their daughters on a Saturday night and never saw them again.

For the first time in the nation's history, Aboriginal nations can start to formally request to enter a treaty with an Australian government. Victoria's Treaty Authority, an Australian-first body facilitating treaty talks across the state — has launched its database — the first official step towards treaty talks. The database will hold information detailing which land and waters a proposed treaty could cover, and the status of negotiations.

The Indigenous-led national crisis hotline 13YARN says it's been inundated with tens of thousands of calls for help from First Nations people. Since it was established in 2022, 13YARN has fielded 50,000 calls for help from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the country. National Program manager Aunty Marjorie Anderson told ABC News Breakfast it was an "incredible milestone".
